Summary and Suggestion

 1.1 Purpose of Practicum

  • Learning the differences in  a teaching culture abroad, especially Thailand, starting from the curriculum, student characteristics, learning methods and all activities at school
  • Train the student teacher exchange teaching skills from making a lesson plan until the implementation in real teaching
  • Improve skills in developing instructional strategies and assessments
  • Improve communication skills with teachers and students, classroom management and time management

1.2 Procedure of Practicum

At The Demonstration School of Thepsatri Rajabhat University, the student teacher exchange program was conducted over three weeks. The activities included observation in the first week, teaching assistant duties in the second week, and teaching practicum in the third week. During the observation, student teachers were able to gather information about students' learning styles, the media used, monitor student engagement, and identify their needs. This observation phase also helped the student teachers design lesson plans that addressed these needs effectively. The teaching assistant experience allowed the student teachers to interact directly with students and build a positive classroom atmosphere. Furthermore, the teaching practicum provided an opportunity for the student teachers to independently manage the classroom during lessons.

1.3 Outcomes of Practicum

The student teacher exchange program helped improve teaching skills, design engaging learning activities, and manage classrooms effectively. Beyond expanding academic knowledge, it also provided invaluable lessons for personal growth, such as learning to adapt and thrive in a foreign country, appreciating the beauty of cultural diversity, respecting differing opinions, and understanding the importance of communication skills.

1.4 Overall Impression

One of the most memorable moments for me was being able to do learning and teaching activities at The Demonstration School of Thepsatri Rajabhat University. There I did various activities ranging from observation of learning activities, teaching assistant to carrying out teaching practicum activities independently. I was very happy to get to know the teachers and students there. They were very polite, friendly, and treated me well. I hope to come back to Thailand again in the future.

1.5 Suggestion for Future Improvement

To improve the program's effectiveness, it would be better to provide intensive training for student teacher exchanger on using appropriate Thai language for teaching students.
